    In what Telnic CEO Khashayar Mahdavi calls the biggest innovation since .com, the .tel generic Top Level Domain (gTLD) was launched to all comers last week. Within 36 hours of .tel being made available through General Availability, the 100,000th .tel domain name was registered.

  • ICANN – New gTLDs and Trademark Issues: Implementation Recommendation Team (IRT)

    As directed by ICANN’s Board in a recent resolution (see http://www.icann.org/en/minutes/resolutions-06mar09.htm (http://www.icann.org/en/minutes/resolutions-06mar09.htm) ), the Intellectual Property Constituency (IPC) has formed an Implementation Recommendation Team (IRT). Members of the IRT are listed here (http://www.icann.org/en/topics/new-gtlds/irt-list-23mar09-en.pdf) [PDF, 20K]. The IRT has been formed to provide possible solutions to trademark issues raised in the new Generic Top-Level Domain (New gTLDs) implementation planning.

    A public comment period has opened today for 30 days on the topic of travel support.

    Last year, ICANN created travel procedures to clarify which members of the ICANN community were to receive travel support for that fiscal year (2009). At the same time, it was announced that they would be reviewed after the first year of use.

    in the week to March 16, selling for US$400,000. Second biggest sale
    for the week was gonghui.com that sold for $63,000 while the third
    biggest sale was lol.de, the biggest ccTLD sale of the week, sold for
    €35,000 ($47,250).

    The biggest ccTLD sale of the year, flatrate.de, was the biggest sale
    of last week, selling for €160,000 (US$200,000) reports Domain Name
    Journal. The next four top sellers for the week were all .com sales,
    although none broke six figures. Claim.com was second, selling for
    $80,000 and RodeoDrive.com third selling for $60,000.
